Descriptions of God

And we’re back, with the third post in the series Descriptions of God! I’ve been enjoying learning more about God as I write these, and I hope you have as well.

Understands ~ “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” Psalm 139:23

Awesome ~ “And I said, “O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,” Nehemiah 1:5

Near ~ “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18

Eternal ~ “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Revelation 22:13

Sovereign ~ “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11

Refuge ~ “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! Interlude A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High. God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it.” Psalm 46:1-5

What is something God has taught you about Himself recently? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
