Happy Father’s Day: A Collaboration with Daniel and Joelle

Hello everyone, and Happy Father’s Day! I’m not sure how many dads are reading this, so for the children: if you haven’t done something for your dad yet, go do something! Write him a letter. Make his favorite meal or dessert. Spend the evening playing games. No matter what it is, let him know how much you love and appreciate him.

Today’s post is a collab with Daniel and Joelle. You can read their posts here and here. This is for you, Daddy. I love you ❤

The Song

When we were discussing this collab, it took us a while to come up with an idea. Then Daniel suggested that we all pick a song and write thoughts/memories/ideas to go with it. When he said that, the first song that came to my mind was Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin.

Before reading this, listen to the song.

Dear Daddy. . .

You’re such a wonderful dad, and you’ve taught me so much.

Thank you for teaching the Real Life classes, teaching me things I’ll need to know and “putting tools in my toolbox.” Some of the things we’ve talked about I’ve never thought much about, but I appreciate you taking the time to prepare me for the world.

Looking back, you’ve done so many things with me:

  • Fishing
  • Creating
  • Hiking
  • Hunting
  • Biking
  • Flying kites
  • Playing games
  • Going on adventures
  • Telling stories

The list is endless. Thank you for making my childhood fun, yet educational, full of laughter, yet serious.

While I don’t remember this, you’ve told me many times about how you used to take me down to the post office to get the mail, and how I loved exploring along the way. Thank you for letting me explore and learn more about the outdoors. We’ve made so many good memories, and I’ll remember them always.

I know of kids who are growing up without a dad in their life, and I realize again and again how blessed I am to have you to guide me through the hard times, the fun times, and the in-between times. Everything we get to do together is something I’ll remember forever.

Thank you for caring enough about me to keep an eye on what I watch, read, and listen to. For a long time, I didn’t get why, but now I do. You’re keeping me safe and making sure I have an unblemished childhood.

Someday, I don’t want to move far. I want to stay close by so that we can still spend time together, adventuring and learning.

I love you, Daddy. You are a Good Good Father.

~ Your Daughter
